Cutting Collars

The Neck Shutter cutting collar was originally created by award-winning hairdresser Mr Akinori Takemoto, the founder of hairdressing tools company TAKEYA.

Dissatisfied with standard cutting collars that were not effective at keeping cut hairs at bay, or that didn’t stay in place when the client moved their neck, TAKEYA sought to make a new cutting collar product that could eliminate the discomfort and irritation caused by cut hairs, while still remaining comfortable for the client.

After managing to create an incredibly thin yet durable rubber material of just 0.35mm that was both easy-to-use and practical, TAKEYA released the Neck Shutter, elevating the salon experience for both client and hairdresser.

Today, 90% of hairdressers in Japan use the Neck Shutter cutting collar as part of their service. Try it for yourself to see why.

In Japanese, “Nariwai” refers to the concept of working in order to live. This may sound like an epithet typical of workaholic Japan, but in truth it is more about fostering an appreciation for the work you do. Japan, after all, is known for being incredibly effective at manufacturing products, but it often keeps the best things to itself. At Nariwai Japan, we want more people to experience the incredibly innovative products that Japan produces including our cutting collar, and to share them with the world. Luckily for you, you’ve already found us!
